Shazam now has over 100 million users
Available across a whole host of mobile platforms, the popular music ID app, Shazam, has now crossed the 100 million mark in usage. The news gains that much more significance if you consider the fact that almost 25 million users have joined the service in the past six months, which is no small feat. Andrew Fisher, CEO, had this to say about the achievement:
When Shazam launched creating the mobile music discovery category, we couldn’t have imagined that over 100 million people in 200 countries would be using our service, or that Shazamers would be actively interacting with television programs and advertising. Shazam’s growing popularity and ubiquity has established our leadership position as the best way for consumers across the globe to discover, engage with and share new content via their mobile phones.
The company also offers SARA (Shazam Audio Recognition Advertising) and has already tied up with the bigwigs in the broadcast industry like NBC and HBO and a few consumer companies like Levi’s and Dockers to provide a new and interactive advertising campaign. When a viewer sees the Shazam logo on screen, he/she can “shazam” the content on TV to access special content, enter promos and buy products associated with the show.
