How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Huawei U8100

While root-access lets you tweak your device using the root-only apps, it may not be good enough for power users who wish to change their current ROM. For those users, there’s a nice little thing called Custom Recovery. A custom recovery allows users to flash new ROMs, backup old ones as well as do a lot of things that can’t usually be done with a stock recovery. This guide shows how you can flash a custom recovery on your Huawei U8100 smartphone, so go ahead and get it flashed on your device:

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must be rooted before you can do this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the Huawei U8100 procedure first, finish it, then return to this procedure and continue.

2. This should flash CWM Recovery on your device.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. CWM Recovery (Download link’s available in the first post)

III. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Huawei U8100:

1. Download and place the CWM Recovery archive onto your Desktop.

2. Unzip files from the archive over to your Desktop.

3. Turn OFF your device.

4. Turn it back on by holding down Volume DOWN+End+Power buttons together.

5. You should be in bootloader mode.

6. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.

7. Double-click on install-recovery-windows.bat file available on your Desktop.

8. It should start flashing the CWM Recovery on your device, sit back and relax till it flashes the recovery.

9. Once the recovery has been flashed, reboot your device.

10. You’re all set!

Great! Your device’s been successfully equipped with a custom recovery. Now go ahead and flash some ROMs!
