How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0

Maybe you’re just sick and tired of using the same oldish stock ROM on your Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0? Maybe you want to flash some custom ROMs on your device? Either way, this guide should help you. The famous custom recovery — CWM Recovery — has been ported to the aforementioned device and getting it installed on the device is as easy as pie. All you have to do is just follow the following procedure and you’ll have CWM up and running on your device in no time:

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 procedure first, finish it, then return to this procedure and continue.

2. This procedure should work on Windows based PCs only.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. CWM Odin Package (It’s attached in the first post)

2. Odin

III. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0:

1. Place both the files you downloaded onto your Desktop.

2. Extract files from the Odin archive over to your Desktop.

3. Double-click on the Odin executable file and it’ll open.

4. Click on PDA and choose the CWM Odin Package (.tar) file you downloaded earlier to your Desktop.

5. Make sure to uncheck the Repartition box if it’s already checked.

6. Checkmark the boxes that say Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.

7. Turn OFF your device.

8. Turn it back on by holding down Volume DOWN+Home+Power buttons together.

9. Press the Volume UP button to continue to Download mode.

10. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.

11. Click on Start in the Odin and it’ll start flashing the CWM Recovery on your device.

12. Once the recovery’s been flashed, reboot your device.

13. And you’re all done!

Excellent! Your device’s been successfully flashed with a custom recovery to help you install custom ROMs!
