How to Unroot the Samsung Galaxy S5 (MetroPCS)

Perhaps you’re done playing with root and custom ROMs on your Android device? Regardless of the reason, it’s usually pretty easy to unroot your device and go back to the stock firmware.

Some of the reasons for unrooting your Samsung Galaxy S5 (MetroPCS) are:

  • Sending in the device for warranty (most, but not all unrooting procedures reinstate the manufacturer warranty if you had one before rooting).
  • Starting over (simply undoing everything you did while rooted so you can have a clean slate to start over).
  • Fix any issues (Maybe rooting messed something up? No problem, unrooting will take care of it for you).

Ready to get started? Here’s how to unroot the Samsung Galaxy S5 (MetroPCS):

I. Before You Begin

1. You should have rooted your device using the procedure given here.

2. This should only work on Windows based PCs.

3. You should have required drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, you can download the latest drivers from here.

4. This procedure only works for the SM-G900T1 variant of the device.

II. Downloading Required Files

1. Download Odin and save it to your Desktop.

2. Download the appropriate stock firmware for your device and save it to your Desktop.

III. Unrooting the Samsung Galaxy S5 (MetroPCS)

1. Extract files from both Odin and Stock Firmware by right-clicking on each of them and selecting Extract here.

2. Double-click on Odin executable and it’ll launch.

3. Click on PDA and choose the stock firmware file you just extracted to your Desktop.

4. Make sure Repartition is unchecked in the Odin.

5. Put a checkmark in the boxes that say Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.

6. Turn OFF your device.

7. Turn it back on by holding down Volume Down, Home, and Power buttons together.

8. Press Volume Up and you should be in Download mode.

9. Plug in your device to your PC via USB cable.

10. Hit Start in the Odin and it’ll start flashing the firmware on your device.

11. Once flashed, your device should automatically reboot.

12. You’re all done!

All set! You are now running stock firmware on your Samsung Galaxy S5 (MetroPCS) and have unrooted it.
