How to Unroot the LG G Watch (Video)
If you are all done tinkering around with your LG G Watch, you’ll most likely want to unroot it. By that I mean completely returning it back to the stock firmware and relocking the bootloader so LG can’t tell you messed with it in the first place. The easiest way to do this is to use a script from a custom ROM actually that undoes any rooting you’ve added to the device, then you can relock the bootloader and be good to go.
At the time of writing this, this will work in 99% of cases BUT if after writing this there are more complex Custom ROMs that are flashed using a custom recovery, you’ll need a different way of unrooting the device most likely (as you’ll need to completely flash a stock ROM to remove the custom one before relocking the bootloader).
With all of that said, if you used this ROM on your device or just rooted using this procedure, this will work for you. Otherwise, explain your situation in the comments and wait for a response from me before attempting. Here we go.
I. Before You Begin
1. Read everything above this.
2. You must have Windows to follow this tutorial.
II. Setup ADB
1. If it isn’t already setup, head to our How to Setup ADB tutorial, complete it, and return here when you can see the G Watch’s serial number.
III. Unroot the G Watch
1. Plug the G Watch in via USB cable using the dock it came with.
2. Download the unrooting script from the developer’s page and save it to your desktop.
Gohma ROM (under Downloads on that page)
3. Unzip the ROM file and extract to to your desktop.
4. Double-click the windows_returntostock.bat file inside the newly extracted folder.
IV. Relock the Bootloader of the G Watch
1. On your computer, navigate to C: > android-sdk > platform-tools.
2. Hold shift on your keyboard and right-click anywhere blank in the folder, then select Open Command Window Here.
3. In the new command prompt window that opens, type the following with hitting enter at the end of the line:
adb reboot bootloader
4. When the G Watch reboots, type the following with hitting enter at the end of the line:
fastboot oem lock
5. On the device tap the circle to reboot.
After that, your device should reboot and there should no longer be a unlocked icon at the bottom of the boot animation under LG. If so, you are all set. Enjoy!
