How to Unroot the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (WiFi)

It didn’t take too long for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (WiFi) to get a root method, and a lot of users rooted their device. If you’re one of those users but aren’t satisfied with root, you might consider unrooting your device. Here’s how:

Unrooting is the process of removing root access, a custom recovery (if you have one), and just trying to get the device back to as close to stock as possible.

Some of the reasons for unrooting your Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (WiFi) are:

  • Sending in the device for warranty (most, but not all unrooting procedures reinstate the manufacturer warranty if you had one before rooting).
  • Starting over (simply undoing everything you did while rooted so you can have a clean slate to start over).
  • Fix any issues (Maybe rooting messed something up? No problem, unrooting will take care of it for you).

Ready to get started? Here’s how to unroot the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (WiFi):

I. Before You Begin

1. You should have rooted your device using the procedure given here.

    1. Go to About Device in settings and check the build number (near the bottom). Mine ends in “ANK2”, and there is only one on the list there, labeled “cellular south” or something.
