How to Quickly Launch the Camera on the HTC One (M8)

Ever been in that situation where you go to snap a picture of something, but by the time you open your camera app — the moment is gone? We all have, and it’s the worst feeling ever (not really, but it definitely sucks). With the HTC One (M8), you may never have to miss another one of those moments!

Some of the coolest features on the One (M8) are gesture controls. Luckily for us, those gestures make their way to the camera as well, even when the device is in sleep mode! Here’s how to jump right into the camera app while your phone is in sleep mode:

1. Hold your phone in landscape mode (that’s side-down, in case you weren’t sure).

 

2. Long-press the volume up button (it takes about three seconds to register).

3. Once the camera app opens up, snap pictures as you normally would!

That’s it! From there, you’re left to snapping great pics and capturing those moments that may otherwise have been missed. This is a great trick to keep in mind when you need to snap a pic in a pinch. It also gently reminds you to take pictures in landscape mode, because nobody should be taking pics or video in portrait mode. Ever.
