How to Create a GIF Using Your HTC One (M8)

HTC’s Zoe is a pretty special feature that draws a lot of users in. It’s never been better than with the HTC One (M8), either. One of the neat features in Zoe is that ability to quickly and easily create GIFs from your video clips. In fact, HTC takes all the hard work out of your hands.

Here, we’ll show you the quick and easy step for taking a video taken with your HTC One (M8), and creating a GIF from it. First, let’s talk about shooting a video with Zoe:

I. Shoot a Video with Zoe

1. Launch your camera app.

2. Tap the four-dot menu on the bottom right.

3. Select Zoe Camera from the list of camera options.

4. Hold down the shutter button to toggle Zoe in Video mode.

5. Press the shutter to start filming, and again to stop.

Now for the fun part — editing! Though HTC does the hard work for you, there are still some options, depending on the length of video you shot:

II. Create a Gif from the Video

1. In the camera app, select the Gallery icon on the bottom of your screen.

2. Select the Zoe video you’d like to edit into a GIF.

3. Once the video pops up on the screen, tap anywhere to bring up your options menu.

4. Tap ‘Edit’. Scroll until you see ‘Gif Creator’. Tap on it, and Zoe creates a GIF of your video!

From here, HTC has done the heavy lifting. You can still choose the part of the video you’d like created into a GIF by sliding the placeholders at the bottom of the screen, though. After your GIF is created and saved, you can even have fun with filters, and even share your creation!
