MWC 2011: LG Optimus 3D demoed
The above video doesn’t really do justice to the tech LG has employed on the Optimus 3D but what can be seen is a solidly built device that manages to look beautiful at the same time. BGR got to spend some quality time with the behemoth and had some pretty nice things to say about the phone and its 3D display. The display does not require glasses to watch 3D content and there’s a dedicated 3D button which takes the user to LG’s 3D carousel pretty quick. The Optimus 3D also features two cameras that will enable shooting images and clips in 3D (which can be uploaded to YouTube 3D direct).
Even with the 3D part put aside, this Android device still shines with its awesome 4.3-inch WVGA multitouch display and dual-channel and dual-memory architecture (a first on mobile) to aid a really fast 1GHz TI OMAP4 dual-core processor (almost 3000 on Quadrant fast, according to AndroidPolice). As for the OS, the phone will initially ship with Android 2.2 Froyo but Gingerbread 2.3 should be on its way soon after the release.
The LG Optimus 3D is set for a Q2 release and frankly, we can’t wait to see how this device will fare against the competition this year. With 3D in the mix, the device will surely burn a gaping hole in your pocket but would you really want a 3D phone? Feel free to comment below!
