How To Get Gingerbread (Android 2.3) on Your Android Phone
So as you may know that unofficialy Gingerbread ROMs are popping up everywhere for almost every phone now. If you’re familiar with our site, then you may also already know how to install a new Gingerbread ROM, but if you aren’t then it may all look like a big headache to you. So here’s a little guidance on how exactly you can update your phone from it’s current Android version to Android 2.3 (aka Gingerbread).
I. Root the Phone
1. Head to our How To’s section and select Android then your device. You’ll be greeted by all the procedures we have for that specific device. Look for the How To Root procedure for your device and do that one from beginning to end. Once done, head back to here to continue.
II. Load a Recovery/ROM
1. Head to our How To’s section and select Android then your device. You’ll be greeted by all the procedures we have for that specific device. Look for the How To Load a ROM OR How To Flash a Recovery procedure for your device (most devices just have a how to load a ROM procedure and in that procedure you flash a recovery, but a few have them as separate procedures) and do that from beginning to end. When it says to choose a custom ROM from our ROMs section simply choose any ROM that says it is based on Gingerbread (aka Android 2.3) and flash that during the procedure. If you do not see a Gingerbread ROM listed for your device, head to XDA and search the Development Forum for your specific device and you should find one there.
2. Once done, you’re phone will reboot and you’ll be running Gingerbread, enjoy! Remember you can always just grab a different ROM from the ROMs section and flash that in order to change to a different ROM AND if you search our site for the How To Unroot procedure for your device, you can use that to get back to stock. Good luck!
