Best Sounding Truly Wireless Headphones (Video)
Bose is a name in the audio world that I’m sure I don’t need to introduce.
They’ve been around forever and chances are some audiophile you know has at least one pair, even if they’re just the noise canceling ones that you see on every single flight.
Thing is they’ve made a ton of wired and wireless headphones, but they’ve never made a truly wireless pair of headphones. Until now.
These are the Bose SoundSport Free.
Now, I’ve used plenty of other truly wireless headphones over the last year or two, from the oh-so-popular Air Pods to the IconX’s from Samsung and while both are great options in their own right with tons of other features, neither has an emphasis on producing really great audio. Bose, on the other hand, probably wouldn’t be able to do a pair of these without that being at the top of their list, cause, well, they’re Bose.
And in that regard, while they might not quite match the quality of their over the ear brethren, they don’t disappoint.
Firstly, they are the loudest pair of truly wireless headphones I’ve ever used. Where others I can turn all the way up and still wish I had a little more volume, these guys I can’t use past 80% or so or it psychically hurts a little.
And it’s not just volume, they sound pretty crisp at any volume and you can even feel the bass in your head a bit.
They also come with a charging case that has fast charging enable to give you 45 mins of play time in just 15 mins apparently, and is capable of providing an extra two full charges on the go if you charge the case up.
The battery life for the ear buds themselves is rated at 5 hours as well which is on par with the other headsets like this on the market.
Another big concern with these types of headphones is the connection. A bunch of the earlier wireless ear buds I’ve tested in the past had a hard time keeping the connection stable with the phone and more often between the two ear buds themselves–causing you to lose sound in one periodically. Something that drove me nuts to the point where I would curse outloud and throw them across the room. Thankfully though with these, I haven’t had a single issue over the week I’ve been using them.
Where these start to lose points is in their size and styling. It’s hard to call them anything other than huge. They stick out of your ear a decent amount and are definitely noticeable by anyone within 50ft of you. Even the case they come in is a lot larger than any of the other ones on the market so bulky is something you’ll have to think about with them.
One plus of the size though and considering they’re marketing them as a workout pair of ear buds, is they are pretty snug in your ear. Once I put them in, it didn’t matter what I did, they weren’t coming out.
Speaking of working out, they are sweat and rain proof, which is super important if you plan to use them to work out of course, just don’t go swimming with them.
The other potential downside to them? The price. They are $250. Which is a fair bit more expensive than the other ones I mentioned, but with better battery-life and more charges in the case, better volume, and sound.
So you just need to decide how much those benefits are worth to you and then how little you care about what other people think of you when you’re wearing them.
There you go, hope you enjoyed that, and let me know what you guys think of them in the comments, love to hear from you.
