Three iPhone Apps for Summer

Summer is here and you may be planning to take advantage of the nice weather, do a little traveling, or maybe enjoy some photography.  Here are three fantastic iPhone apps reviewed and ready to enhance your summer.

Shine: The newest weather app, Shine basically took Apple’s included weather app (never updated) and beefed it up. The current weather displays largely on top and the days to follow are forecasted below. At a glance you have a 72 hour forecast and can slide for the full 7 day. The user interface has a crisp and clean appearance. No directions needed for this app. Cost: .99 cents

TripAdvisor: Brought to you by the popular travel review website, the app provides the same experience but re-packaged for people who never leave home without their iPhone. The app allows you to easily access over 35 million reviews on where to sleep, dine, and find local attractions. The app also allows the user to find cheap flights, see review photos, and obtain GPS. The App was extremely self explanatory and I did not need any instruction on how to use the app. Cost: Free

Photosynth: A unique and interactive panoramic photography app, Photosynth enables users to see the panoramic picture take shape with their “interactive capture” feature. The high resolution pictures are clear and you don’t have to wait long to see the final image appear. It displays shortly after the shot is taken. The panoramic pictures can be shared directly to Facebook and Bing Maps. I was pleased to find the pictures were also saved directly to my camera roll, making them accessible to any other app on my iPhone. The app includes several features worth reading up on in order to get the most out of the app. This is not your typical download, snap, and share kind of photo app. Cost: Free

  1. Thank you for writing this, I was looking for a good app to find travel reviews. I also checked out Photosynth…awesome panoramic for a camera phone app.
