RIM Announces BlackBerry PlayBook Launch to 16 Countries
Research In Motion announced today the global roll out of its BlackBerry PlayBook for 16 countries over the next four weeks. The announcement follows a swirl of recent setbacks for RIM as they had hoped their PlayBook tablet would be a fighting contender to Apple’s successful iPad.
The PlayBook was recalled last month due to a flaw in the operating system affecting approximately 1,000 units. The recall fueled speculation that the tablet was pushed out before it was truly ready. Despite RIM’s decreased earnings and let down investors, RIM looks to rely on the upcoming global launch to resurrect the PlayBook’s demand.
The UK, India, Germany, Australia, France, and the United Arab Emirates are some of the countries who can expect the summer roll out.
