Skytex Pocket Primer costs just $99, runs Android 2.2

It’s hard to bring out a device that has a balance of good features and an unintimidating price tag, but Skytex seems to have succeeded to some extent in this.  The company has released a device called the Pocket Primer, which true to its name, is small enough (at 5 inches) to fit in your pocket and leave space enough to put that extra cash you saved on buy it.

Featurewise, you get what you paid for – the device comes with a 600MHz processor aided by 256MB of RAM, 4GB of onboart memory and the option to expand to 32GB via MicroSD, G-sensor, WiFi b/g/n, microphone, speaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack.  The upside is its 4.3 inch touchscreen display, which is multitouch enabled, and suitable for the device to be used as a portable media device, an ebook reader or even a VoIP device on WiFi, using its mic.

The Pocket Primer currently runs Android 2.2 (and that’s pretty what it’ll run unless Skytex busts out an update) and costs $99 but if you are more of a Gingerbread person, feel free to check out their Skypad Alpha which sports a 7-inch display and runs Android 2.3.
