Fusion Garage Knocks Off $200 from Grid10 Tablet Prior to Official Launch
In an already crowded tablet market, it’s no surprise to see companies getting creative when it comes to ensuring the success of a new device. In the case of Fusion Garage, their Grid10 tablet was announced on August 10th and hasn’t even made it to its official launch before the company decided to mark down the price by 40%. As we reported back in August, the 10.1 inch slab features a 1366 x 768-pixel display, a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset, and the Fusion Garage’s own Grid OS platform.
The company originally announced a $499 Wi-Fi version and a $599 model with 3G connectivity in August, and now the devices are priced at $299 and $399, respectively. We’re not sure yet if the company will be refunded anyone who paid full price for a pre-order, but Fusion Garage has still confirmed a September 15th launch. Hard to tell if the drastic pre-launch price reduction will ensure the tablet’s success, but we’ll be keeping our eye on it.
