Nexus One gets Android 2.3.6 unofficially

While the Samsung Infuse 4G got its own version of Gingerbread love recently, Google’s own Nexus One is one step further with this leak of Gingerbread 2.3.6 OS.  The build, numbered GRK39F, has popped recently on the internet and is ready to be used by N1 user game enough to do flash it on his own, which should be easy, since the leak appears to be that of a flashable zip file, which means no convoluted procedure or jumping through a lot of hoops before getting a N1 that’s running Android 2.3.6.

Follow these steps to get your device updated and running in no time:

  • Download the update file.
  • Rename it to update.zip and copy it to the root the N1’s SD card.
  • Turn the device off and put it into recovery mode.
  • Apply the update.zip file.
  • Reboot.
