CyanogenMod 7.1 alpha Android ROM for the HP Touchpad out now
Things are looking up for those who are eagerly waiting to experience Android on their $99 Touchpads, now that the CyanogenMod Team has released an alpha ROM tailored for the abandoned device recently. If you are okay with crashes from time to time, you can download the alpha version of the CM7.1 ROM from Rootzwiki and give it a go. As the post says, the current list of nonworking components is more than those working, but one could expect these issues to disappear over time as future builds are released.
As with any early releases, flashing this ROM on your Touchpad is extremely risky and needless to say, voids your warranty – so we advise waiting for a more stable release to enjoy Gingerbread on the tablet. Also, since this build is based on Android 2.3, it might be prudent to wait until Ice-Cream Sandwich is unveiled, since a ROM based on this would give a far better tablet experience than Gingerbread.
