PayPal Android App Gets Updated with Version 3.0, Adds P2P NFC Payment Capabilities

Great news for anyone who hates carrying cash around, as PayPal has released the 3.0 version of its Android app adding peer-to-peer (P2P) NFC payment capabilities. With version 3.0, users can directly exchange money from one NFC-equipped phone to another. So how does the update app work? Here’s how the PayPal blog explains the relatively simple process,

In order to use the new NFC feature you and a friend will each need any NFC-enabled Android phone and the PayPal app with the Request Money widget installed. Requesting money is a simple process: just enter an amount, and then tap phones. Once your friend receives the request they simply enter their password to send money.

Because the Android App utilizes the NFC P2P mode, the PayPal app can work with dozens of NFC enabled phones out there today, not just the Samsung Nexus S. Interested? Head over to the Android Market to get the updated PayPal app now.
