Sprint Confirms the First Batch of LTE Cities: Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio to be Upgraded First

We were all expecting 2012 to be Sprint’s year concerning converting its WiMAX network over to LTE. However, details surrounding actual cities to be first on the LTE list had us sitting in the dark, until now. Sprint’s Dan Hesse has finally confirmed that Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio are to be the lucky first to receive The Now Network’s “4G LTE and 3G network upgrades by mid-2012”. The timing comes perfectly, as the very first batch of Sprint LTE phones are expected to be released around the same time.

The strategically selected group of initial launch cities come as no surprise. AT&T Mobility is headquartered in the ATL, and the three remaining Texas hubs were also part of AT&T’s top priority launch areas. Looks like Sprint is aiming to chase right on the heels of AT&T, and there is no shame in their game right now.Source
