How to Unroot the Acer Iconia A500 Tablet
While rooting an Android device provides you hundreds of opportunities to customize your device, it voids your warranty at the same time. Sometimes, you mess up with your device by installing hundreds of junk apps and you become unable to remove them. At such time, you may be wondering if you could get your device back to factory state. Well, that’s possible by installing the stock firmware and in the following procedure, we’re going to show you how you can unroot your Acer Iconia A500 Tablet.
I. Before You Begin:

8. You should boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery.

when i try to go to clockworkmod it keeps saying recovery verification failed
But how would I unroot my tab my volume button broke and I romved the bottom
Hello. The same happens to me. Whenever I try this or ANY OTHER method, I keep on receiving the message: “recovery verification failed….”, and that’s all. Then I can only turn the Iconia A500 off and start it again. I am really a Little tired of looking in the whole internet, but still haven’t found a REAL solution to this problem. Wanting too much to find someone here who could give me the right directions. Kind regards.
Hello,
At the Step-9, after going to “install zip from sdcard”, choose “toggle signature verification” and turn it OFF.
It should solve your issue.
Thanks!
Thank you very much for your answer. Unfortunately, the issue is that I can’t get to reach step 9. After I’m done with step 7 (rebooting the Tablet using the volume and power buttons) I never see the menú. I on ly see the error message that I already told you. More detailed it would be like this:
This is what I see on screen when it begins booting by pressing the already known bottons:
(In whites letters):
Erasing Cache before SD Update…..
SD update cmd: recovery
–update_package=SDCARD:update.zip
Booting recovery kernel image
(and now red letters)
Recovery verified failed…..
And that’s all. Then I must press the power botton for some seconds until the Tablet turns off, and then I can start it again and load the system as usual.
Still any ideas, please?? I will really appreciate it a lot.
Best regards.
I’ve the same problem. Unable to get menu in recovery mode.
Did you get to solve the problem?
Thanks
Sorry to tell you that I eneded up by selling my Iconia A500. ¿O lo debo decir en español…? Bueno, es igual. Tú entendiste. Saludos.
after aelecting update.zip its saying installation aborted cant open sd card
Make sure your SD card isn’t corrupted and is working fine.
Try formatting the SD card and then follow the above procedure once again.
Hope it helps!
Can I use this method to unroot if I can’t remember how I rooted my device? If I can’t use this method, can you point me in the direction of a method to unroot my device? Thanks!
