How to Root the LG Optimus Net (P690)
LG Optimus Net P690 is an entry-level Android smartphone that costs $199, a budget device packing features of a high-end smartphone. There’s a 800MHz processor and 512MB RAM equipped in the device that means there’re almost no chances of freezing the device when you run an app that requires huge amount of resources. The device runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread out-of-box and overall it’s a good device you can get with such a cheaper price tag. In this guide, you will be learning how you can root your LG Optimus Net P690, so you can enjoy the third-party apps that require root-access and it also opens doors for a custom recovery image. So, let’s get started:
I. Before You Begin:
1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting the device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.
2. This works on Windows based PCs only.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. LG Drivers (Download link’s given in the first post, in step-2)
2. SuperOneClick (Download link’s given in the first post, in step-1)
III. Installing the Drivers:
1. Place the LG Drivers file you downloaded to your Desktop.
2. Double-click on the file and follow on-screen instructions.
3. Reboot your PC once the drivers are installed.
IV. Rooting the LG Optimus Net (P690):
1. Place the SuperOneClick archive to your Desktop.
2. Extract files from the archive to your Desktop.
3. Turn ON the USB debugging function on your device by simply heading to Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging.
4. Connect your device to your PC via USB cable.
5. Open the ADB folder you’ve on your Desktop by double-clicking on it.
6. Launch a Command Prompt Window in the folder. To do so, simply hold down the Shift button on your keyboard and right-click on any empty area on the screen, then choose Open command window here.
7. Type in following commands into the Command Prompt Window:
adb devices
adb shell
echo 1 >/data/local/lge_adb.conf
8. Now minimize the Command Prompt Window.
9. Launch the SuperOneClick tool by double-clicking on its executable file.
10. Click on Root button in the tool and it’ll start rooting your device.
11. Within a few seconds, your device will be rooted.
12. And you’re done!
Brilliant! Your device has been successfully rooted using the SuperOneClick tool and you can now go ahead and install your favorite root-only apps!
