How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Apollo

Every rooted Android device user should install a custom recovery on his device as it helps in flashing custom ROMs and lets you take full advantage of root-access. ClockworkMod Recovery is a widely popular custom recovery that is equipped with lots of useful features, and fortunately, it’s available for the Samsung Galaxy Apollo. That means you can now have custom ROMs up and running on your device in no time. So, if you’re ready to flash CWM Recovery on your device, then jump onto the guide below.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device using the procedure given here.

2. This should replace your current recovery with the CWM Recovery.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Flash Image (Download link’s available in the first post)

2. ClockworkMod Recovery Image (Download link’s given in the first post)

3. ES File ExplorerQR Code (Google Play Link)

4. Terminal EmulatorQR Code (Google Play Link)

III. Installing ClockworkMod Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Apollo:

1. Download and place both Flash Image as well as Recovery Image onto your Desktop.

2. Extract files from the Flash Image archive to your Desktop.

3. Connect your device to your PC via USB cable.

4. Copy the Flash Image file you extracted to your Desktop over to the root of your SD card.

5. Copy the Recovery Image file as well to the SD card of your device.

6. Once both the files are copied, unplug your device from your PC.

7. Now head over to Google Play and install the ES File Explorer app on your device.

8. Once installed, launch it from your App Drawer.

9. In File Explorer, copy the Flash Image file from SD card over to the /system/bin/ directory.

10. Close the app.

11. Now install the Terminal Emulator app on your device using the link provided above.

12. Once it’s been installed, open it from your Menu.

13. Type in following commands into the app. Make sure to replace recovery.img with the actual name of the Recovery Image you downloaded.

su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

14. Once it’s done, reboot your device.

15. And you’re all set!

Excellent! You’ve successfully installed CWM Recovery on your Galaxy Apollo. You now have the ability to make backups of your current ROM and even replace it with a custom one!
