How to Root the Motorola Citrus

The Motorola Citrus is a starter Android smartphone launched back in 2010, we’ve already reported about the launch here. As it falls in the low-end devices range, you can’t expect high-end features from it. It’s got a 3″ inch screen along with 240×320 pixels, WiFi and Bluetoothe connectivity and last but not least, it runs the Android 2.1 Eclair. It’s got a root-method that enables it to have root-only apps and eventually a custom recovery, if available. If you happen to own this device and interested in rooting it, then guide below is the perfect place to get started. Here’s how you can root your Motorola Citrus.

I. Before You Begin:

1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.

2. This works on Windows based PCs only.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. SuperOneClick (It’s attached in the first post)

III. Rooting the Motorola Citrus:

1. Download and place the SuperOneClick archive onto your Desktop.

2. Extract files from the archive over to your Desktop.

3. On your device, head to Menu>>Settings>>SD card and Phone Storage and tick-mark the box labeled as Unmount SD card.

4. Turn ON the USB debugging option on your device from Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging.

5. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.

6. Open the SuperOneClick app by double-clicking on its executable file you have on your Desktop.

7. Hit Root button in the app and it’ll start rooting your device.

8. You should be rooted within a few seconds.

9. You’re done!
