How to Root the LG Phoenix on Gingerbread
Got your LG Phoenix updated to Android Gingerbread and lost root-access? Looking for a way to root your device on this latest firmware? Great! You’re at the right place. It didn’t take too long for developers to come up with a root method that can root LG Phoenix on Gingerbread firmware and the method seems to be quite easy to follow. As you already know, once rooted, you’ll be able to use root-only apps on your device and there’s even possibility of flashing a custom recovery. So, fasten your seat belts and get onto the guide below to learn how to root your device.
I. Before You Begin:
1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.
2. You must be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread in order for this procedure to work. If you’re on Froyo, head here instead.
3. This works on Windows based PCs only.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. Root Package (Download link’s given in the second section, in step-2)
III. Rooting the LG Phoenix on Gingerbread:
1. Download and place the Root Package archive onto your Desktop.
2. Extract files and folders from the archive over to your Desktop.
3. Turn ON the USB debugging option on your device by heading to Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging.
4. Once it’s been enabled, connect your device to your PC via USB cable.
5. Open the folder named ADB that you have on your Desktop.
6. Inside the folder, you should find a file called cmd7.exe, double-click on it.
7. Type in following commands into the Command Prompt Window you just opened. Hit ENTER after each line you type:
adb devices
adb shell
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
8. Once you’re done with it, reboot your device.
9. Wait till your device boots up.
10. Now double-click on the SuperOneClick.exe file available on your Desktop.
11. Select GingerBreak from the Exploit dropdown menu given at the top-right corner.
12. Hit Root button and it’ll root your device.
13. And you should be rooted now!
Brilliant! Your LG Phoenix has successfully been rooted on Gingerbread. Now show-off your friends that you still have root-access even you updated to GB!
