How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Pro

The next step after rooting your device is flash a custom recovery on it. Flashing a recovery isn’t a rocket-science and once you have one up and running on your device, you won’t be able to stop yourself from flashing various custom ROMs and Mods. All from a single place and a few taps and you’ll be running your favorite ROM. Sounds interesting? huh. Let’s see how you can flash a custom recovery on your Samsung Galaxy Pro smartphone.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Pro procedure first, finish it, then return to this procedure and continue.

2. You should have appropriate drivers installed on your PC.

3. You must be running Android Froyo to flash this recovery.

4. This is an Alpha version of the recovery, so you may expect some bugs.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. CWM Recovery (Download link’s given in the tenth post)

2. Odin

III. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Pro:

1. Download and place both the files onto your Desktop.

2. Unzip files from the Odin archive over to your Desktop.

3. Double-click on the Odin executable file and it’ll launch.

4. Click on PDA and select the CWM Recovery file you downloaded to your Desktop.

5. Make sure that only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time boxes are checked in the tool.

6. Leave the Repartition box unchecked.

7. Turn OFF your device

8. Reboot your device into Download mode. To do so, press and hold the Q+Power buttons together.

9. You should now be in Download mode.

10. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.

11. Odin should recognize your device and one of the boxes in it will turn yellow.

12. Hit Start and it’ll start flashing the recovery on your device.

13. Once the recovery’s been flashed, your device will automatically reboot.

14. And you’re all done!

Brilliant! The custom recovery’s been successfully flashed on your Galaxy Pro. You can now go ahead and enjoy all of your favorite custom ROMs one by one!
