Android 2.3.4 update for the HTC Thunderbolt now en route
It’s here finally and if you haven’t already updated OTA, you might want to invoke it manually. After a false alarm the last time, which brought the device’s firmware up to build 1.70.605, this 146MB-heavy update is the real deal, pushing the number further up to 2.11.605.3, which means Android 2.3.4 in plain terms.
If you still don’t get it started even after checking for it manually, you can flash it yourself in the following way:
- Download this file and rename it to PG05IMG.zip. (via Android Police)
- Drop the file onto the root of your SD card, meaning it is not in a folder.
- Power down your device.
- Hold Volume Down + Power to boot into the bootloader. (Quick boot from the market also works)
- Your phone should recognize the file. Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Once everything finishes, choose the option to reboot. Enjoy!
