Android 4.0 mobile operating system will be called Ice Cream
Continuing on with Google’s dessert-themed name fetish, it has now come to light that the fourth iteration of the popular Android operating system might simply be called, “Ice Cream.” We have seen the Cupcake (1.5), Donut (1.6), Eclair (2.1) and most recently Froyo (2.2) and following on from these alphabetically, Android 3.0 has already been christened Gingerbread, and 3.5 is supposedly going to be called Honeycomb, so it’s highly likely that the next version will be starting with the alphabet “I.”
There is no official confirmation on this yet, but the 4.0 Ice Cream update is rumored to land in mid 2011, so we have still got a lot of time to eat through Gingerbread and Honeycomb before we get there.
