Android 4.0 Update Finally Hits the HTC Thunderbolt, Sorry No Jelly Bean Here

Despite a vast majority of smartphones moving towards Android 4.1 Jelly Bean induced ecstasy, HTC Thunderbolt users have been stuck miserably waiting around for the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

When the Thunderbolt was first launched, HTC was at a market high and spread their attention thin across too many devices. This resulted in a loss of focus for the company and many users left desperately waiting for their phone’s to be updated. While the Thunderbolt was initially sought after for being the first to run on Verizon’s 4G LTE network, users eventually found it to be bug ridden and with an extremely poor battery life.

Thankfully, we’re moving in the right direction as Verizon has confirmed that the long awaited update is now making its way to users in a phased roll out starting today. The ICS upgrade features include Face Unlock, a new Usage Center, and a customizable launch bar.

Additional information on the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade can be found on the ThunderBolt by HTC support page.
