Android Distribution Numbers Updated for May, Jelly Bean Increases to 28.4% of Devices

The Android team has updated their OS distribution numbers for May and shows an ever so slight increase for Jelly Bean at a meager 28.4%. Granted, that’s still an increase from the 25% it was at in April. Meanwhile, Ice Cream Sandwich is decreasing which is mainly the result of users who were on Android 4.0+ and made the jump to Android 4.1+ in April.

Meanwhile, Gingerbread dropped to 38.5%, Honeycomb is flat lining at 0.1%, Froyo is at 3.6%, and everything stayed stagnant for Eclair and Donut.

Note: Beginning in April, 2013, these charts are now built using data collected from each device when the user visits the Google Play Store. Previously, the data was collected when the device simply checked-in to Google servers. We believe the new data more accurately reflects those users who are most engaged in the Android and Google Play ecosystem.
