Apple outs iOS 5.0.1 update, fixes battery and other issues
As the dust surrounding the release of the iPhone 4S and iOS 5 started settling, users began to notice that all was not cool in the land of the Apple and several issues with the shiny new OS were uncovered. The biggest of these was the extremely annoying battery drain, which was being caused by a bug in the time zone settings enabling location tracking at all times. Coupled with this was a serious security flaw which could open doors to stealing and destroying personal info, if cleverly hidden in a seemingly innocent app.
Apple has now released the 5.0.1 update, which is aimed at fixing the issues listed above and more. The update is a major milestone for iOS as this is the first FOTA update and users can download this update directly to their iOS 5 devices without the need for a computer and iTunes. This version is also said to enable the multitasking gesture on the iPad2, so be sure to try that once updated.
To grab the update, iPhone/iPad users will have to switch to WiFi and click on Software Update once connected to an access point of their choice.
