Archos 101 and 80 G9 tablets get the ICS update
Archos isn’t a name you hear very often in the Android realm, but it seems that we might have to start taking notice of this French company in the future. While other hefty device manufacturers are still in the process of getting Android 4.0 ready for their high-end (and popular) devices, Archos has already started rolling out the Android 4.0.3 update for two of its tablets, the Archos 101 G9 (10.1 inch version) and the Archos 80 G9(with an 8-inch display) – this giant leap from Honeycomb to Ice-Cream Sandwich will definitely elate users who bought these devices, based solely on their processing power matched with a relatively affordable price.
The OTA update is live now and if you don’t see it nudging you to install, try this to invoke it manually – Go to Settings > About device > Firmware update. If that fails too, Archos is providing another way to install it by downloading the update file, putting it at the root of your internal storage and disconnecting the device, which should let the update begin installing.
