CES 2012: Lenovo K800, first Android based on the Intel Medfield chip
Lenovo is mostly known for its laptops and more recently its tablets, but there are a few phones to its name with one more unveiled recently at the CES. The device called the K800 is the first of its kind of sorts utilizing the Intel Medfield SoC or the Intel Atom Z2460 chip running at 1.6GHz. Sadly though, the device will only be released in China and the company has announced no intentions for a global release.
Anyhow, other features include an 8MP rear camera with dual-LED flash (with a front-facing camera), a 4.5-inch 720p display, HSPA+ connectivity, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, aGPS and something called WiDi, which most probably brings the capability to stream the phone’s display wirelessly. Android 4.0 is present out of the box and there’s an onlay of Lenovo’s own LeOS skin to keep things more different. The device will be out in China in the second quarter of 2012 and as to worldwide availability, we can only hope that Lenovo will change its mind eventually.Source
