Android 2.1 Supposedly Running on a G1
So the developer Drizzy has confirmed he has Android 2.1 (what will ship on the Nexus One for the most part) running on his G1. He also says that he will have a loadable ROM ready to go pretty soon.
So those of you thinking about a Nexus One and have another Android device (I’m sure there will be a MyTouch and maybe even a Hero port as well of this ROM soon after), this might be your chance to play with a albeit slower version of the 2.1 goodness that is coming on the Nexus One.
Mmmm animated wallpapers….
We’ll post the ROM in the Download section soon as we see it pop up, if anyone finds it before we do, send us the link!
YES! Maybe now I don’t need a Nexus One…and I can still save my upgrade for some other Android love. ha.
I’ve tried Drizzy’s “Eclair_2.0.1-v1.3 G1/MT3G 32B” ROM. It’s faster than the Cyanogen ROMs in many ways, but fatally flawed due to “CPU ABI incompatible” install failures for roughly half the apps in the Android Market.
Fingers crossed this flaw doesn’t also apply to the Nexus port to G1 / Magic.
There is a Milestone port (android 2.1) by eugene373, out now.

I’m downloading, i’ll be back when it is on my G1
There is an article that said that the nexus one has been rooted before it came out. If thats true we can load a custom rom like the Hero perhaps?
Raul,
Do you have a link to the article, would like to look into it.
raul I would guess so,
how and where can find the android 2.1 app?
Bishop_380,
It is a ROM, and you must have rooted your G1 first then goto our ROMs section on our site under Downloads and we’ll have one in there as soon as they are more stable (right now they cant be used for everyday use).
