Facebook Slips Under the Radar and Adds Facebook Home Support to Galaxy S4, HTC One and Xperia ZL
Facebook has quietly added Facebook Home support for the HTC One as well as unofficial support for the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Sony Xperia ZL. The change comes just hours after the company hosted a small press event at its campus in Silicon Valley. Following that event, the Facebook application itself received an update even though the Facebook Home launcher has not seen an official update since April 22.
Galaxy S4 and Xperia ZL users will now see an option to “Use Home Anyway.” Tap it, and Facebook Home launches just like that.
Additionally, Facebook Home is working without this “Use Home Anyway” intercept on the HTC One. That makes us think this may pop up on other non-supported devices too. Both the HTC One and Galaxy S4 were listed as “supported” devices when Facebook Home was announced, but until now they haven’t been able to run the launcher.
In other Facebook related news, the app update has added a new notification — a persistent “ongoing” notification that lives in your notification pull-down. You can turn it off in the settings menu.
