FCC tests Samsung Within (Galaxy S II) with Sprint WiMax bands
FCC has always been a good source for info on upcoming handsets and this recent filing confirms the long-awaited debut of the Galaxy S II on American soil. The filing shows a device with model number SPH-D710 – we have already come to know it as the Within for Sprint – and it has now passed with flying colors, which puts it much closer to the rumored release next month. Also revealed is the fact that the Within will come with 4G bands, which means support Sprint’s WiMax network, so add that to the already known specs of the Galaxy S II and you have a pretty solid device just waiting to be unleashed.
With the Sprint version now approved and the AT&T version in the works, it remains to be seen if the remaining two major carriers, the Big Red and Tmo, will follow suit soon. That’s what happened in the case of the original Galaxy S and we wouldn’t be surprised to see it happen this time around.
