Google Releases 2013 Nexus 7 Razor Factory Image and Binaries

Are you just dying to tweak that brand new Nexus 7? Well, you’re in luck as Google just released the factory image and binaries for the second gen Nexus 7. It was just a short day ago that complications with Qualcomm licensing restricted Google from posting the binaries and full factory image for the new Nexus 7 tablet. The issue was so annoying that Jean-Baptiste Quéru (JBQ), Google’s Android open source manager, left his position at AOSP. Obviously, that fiasco pushed some buttons, as the Mountain View team just posted the image and drivers for the Nexus 7 hardware. No word yet on what the future holds for Jean-Baptiste Quéru (JBQ).

The system image is based on JSS15J, and it clocks in at 340MB. It appears as though this includes everything you need to flash a 2013 Nexus 7 back to stock. The binaries contain drivers from Asus, Broadcom, and Qualcomm. In fact, it looks like everything is there – graphics, camera, sensors, the whole package. Each of the binaries is a small download, with Qualcomm’s being the largest at about 17.6MB.

As most of you know the factory image allows you to restore the slab to factory settings in the event that you don’t want that custom ROM anymore. Hackers and brave souls alike can grab the installs at the links below.
