How to Backup and Restore Jump Lists in Windows 8

Jump Lists are a great way to jump to any specific task using the apps you’ve installed on your PC. If you’re going to format your PC and want to keep your jump lists backed up, so you can restore them at a later time, then here’s how you can do that. What this procedure does is it creates a backup of all your jump lists on your Desktop and lets you restore them at any time you want.

I. Downloading Required Files:

1. Jump List Tool

II. Backing up Jump Lists in Windows 8:

1. Place the Jump List Tool archive onto your Desktop.

2. Extract files from the archive over to your Desktop.

3. Double-click on the file named backup-jumplists.bat.

4. It’ll create a new folder on your Desktop containing all the jump list files.

5. Now put this folder in a safe place on your PC or upload it to your Google Drive.

6. You’re done!

Great! The backup of your Jump Lists has been created and if you’re wondering how you could restore it, here’s how you can do that:

III. Restoring Jump Lists in Windows 8:

1. Make sure the folder that was created during the Backup procedure is there on your Desktop.

2. Double-click on the file named restore-jumplists.bat that you extracted earlier from the archive.

3. It should restore all your jump lists on your PC.

4. And you should be done!

Cool! Your Jump Lists have been restored and you can confirm it by simply hovering your mouse over any open app in your taskbar!
