How to Extend Your Battery Life on the Droid Turbo

One of the biggest selling points for the Droid Turbo is it’s staggering amount of battery life. Like, if Tom Hanks had owned a Droid Turbo in that movie Castaway, he would never have needed the company of Wilson the Volleyball, as he he would have been quite content playing Angry Birds for days on end while awaiting rescue. The Droid Turbo definitely allows for a significant amount of talk time between charges, but for those of you hellbent on squeezing every last drop of battery life out of this baby, we’ve outlined a few easy ways to make your charge last as long as possible.

Luckily, the Droid Turbo makes it extremely easy to access a bunch of battery saving options from the Quick Settings screen. Almost every option there has something to do with your battery, making for convenient one-stop-shopping in the battery saving department. Here’s how to get there:

1. From any screen on your phone, swipe from the top down. This will pull down the notification drawer.

2. Tap the settings icon in the top right corner (it looks like a square with smaller squares inside it).

3. From this one screen you’ll be able to access all the battery saving tips explained in the rest of this article.

Sleep

Allow your phone to enter sleep mode sooner. This will add more time to your battery life.

1.Tap “Settings.”

4. Choose length of time before your phone will enter sleep mode.

Airplane Mode

When you really want to save your battery, and don’t need to make any calls or use any data, you can turn on Airplane Mode. This is a great option if you’re traveling in a different country, or even just on the subway for a long commute.

1. Simply tap the “Airplane Mode” box.

2. If the plane is white, Airplane Mode is enabled.

Location

Those pesky apps, always trying to access stuff when you’re not even using them! Turn off access to your location, that way your apps won’t run gps in the background, and you’ll save on battery.

1. Tap “Location.”

2. Tap on any of the apps listed.

3. Tap “Disable.”

4. Or, to disable all of the apps at once, toggle the “Location” button at the top to the gray “off” position.

Brightness

Lowering your screen’s brightness is a good option to save battery without having to forfeit any of your phone’s capabilities.

1. Tap “Brightness.”

2. Drag the little blue dot to the left to lower your screen’s brightness.

Bluetooth

If you won’t be needing to use Bluetooth any time soon, turn that sucker off! It’s a battery hog!

1. Tap “Bluetooth.”

2.Toggle the button at the top so it is in the gray “off” position.

Battery

Information is power! Check out how much battery is being used by which apps and systems.

1. Tap the battery icon (hint: it looks like a battery).

2. Tap on the items listed to get details about battery usage.

3. In some cases, it will you give you the option of reducing battery usage by disabling or even turning of the function entirely.
