How to Fix Galaxy Nexus Gradient

Galaxy Nexus is no doubt a great phone comprising of a great look as well as some cool apps. If you have got your hands on this phone for a while, you might have noticed the horizontal lines appearing when you go to Settings menu or any other application which uses the same background, it is the gradient that is not appearing correctly and needs to be fixed. Following is the tutorial to fix Gradient on Galaxy Nexus.

I. Before You Begin:

  1. This is not an official fix for the problem, therefore do it at your own risk.

II. Downloading Required Files:

  1. Download the Universal Flashable ZIP file from here.
  2. You must have a rooted and ClockworkMod recovery installed Galaxy Nexus. UseĀ this guide to root your phone.

III. Fixing Galaxy Nexus Gradient

  1. Place the downloaded ZIP file on the Desktop of your PC.
  2. Connect your Galaxy Nexus smartphone to your PC using the USB cable that came with it.
  3. Now, transfer the ZIP file to your smartphone’s SD Card storage.
  4. When the file transfer finishes, disconnect your phone from the PC.
  5. Turn OFF your Galaxy Nexus smartphone.
  6. Boot up your phone into the ClockworkMod recovery. To do so, press and hold Volume UP and Volume DOWN and then press the Power key.
  7. From the main menu of the ClockworkMod recovery, choose install zip from sdcard option followed by choose zip from sdcard. Navigate to the ZIP file you transferred earlier and select it. Say “Yes” when it prompts you for confirmation.
  8. When the flashing process is completed, choose Go back option and then Reboot system now.

Your phone will then reboot and when it boots up, you will see that the Gradient has been fixed on your Nexus smartphone. Thanks to arzbhatia over at XDA Forum for providing us this solution.
