How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Asus Transformer Prime
If you have chosen Transformer Prime as your primary tablet, then of course, you will need the ClockworkMod Recovery on it. The custom recovery will help you backup of your important data on your tablet and you can easily restore it at a later time. There’s a good number of custom ROMs available for this device and if you wish, you can install them using the recovery. Here’s how you can install ClockworkMod Recovery on the Transformer Prime tablet.
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the Transformer Prime procedure first, finish it, then return to this procedure and continue.
2. You must have unlocked bootloader of your device. You can do so from here.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. Fastboot
2. ClockworkMod Recovery Image (Download link’s given next to the device name)
III. Installing ClockworkMod Recovery on the Asus Transformer Prime:
1. Download and place both the files on the Desktop of your PC.
2. Extract files from the Fastboot archive to your Desktop.
3. Turn OFF your Transformer Prime tablet.
4. Reboot your tablet into the bootloader mode. To do so, while your tablet is turned OFF, press and hold Volume DOWN+Power buttons together.
5. Your tablet should boot up into the bootloader mode.
6. Connect your tablet to the PC using the USB cable.
7. Open a Command Prompt Window on your Desktop. To do so, press and hold the Shift button on your keyboard and right-click on any empty area on the screen, then choose Open command window here option.
8. Issue the following command to flash the recovery on your tablet. Replace recovery.img with the actual recovery image name.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
9. After it has finished installing the recovery, issue the following command to reboot your tablet:
fastboot reboot
10. Your tablet should reboot.
Congrats ! You have successfully installed the ClockworkMod Recovery on your tablet and you are now free to test out any custom ROM on your tablet.
