How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Verizon Droid Charge (I510)
The Verizon Droid Charge has been around roughly for the past two years, and is surely waning in its popularity in the deluge in newer, far more superior devices. For those who still have it though, rooting it and installing a custom recovery on it will make them love it for a bit longer. If you are one of those and want to try rooting, installing custom recovery is the very first step you’ll need to take. So read on if you want to know how to install ClockworkMod Recovery (a very popular custom recovery) on your Samsung Droid Charge.
I. Before You Begin
1. Make sure that you have backed up everything you feel is important before you begin.
2. Charge your device to 75% or more before you begin.
3. Ensure that the correct drivers are installed on your Windows 7 PC before you start; installing Kies usually takes care of this.
II. Necessary Downloads
2. 0817_charge_recovery.tar.md5
III. Installing ClockworkMod Recovery on the Droid Charge
1. Extract the Odin 1.85.rar file you downloaded above to a folder on your desktop.
2. From the extracted folder, double-click on Odin3 v1.85.exe to run the tool.
3. Put your device into Download mode. To do this:
i. Power down your device and remove the battery ii. Press and hold the volume button while connecting your device to your PC. iii. Put the battery back in once you see the yellow triangle with the Android logo.
4. Click on PDA button, locate 0817_charge_recovery.tar.md5 you downloaded above and click on OK to load it on Odin.
5. Make sure that the Re-Partition and Flash Lock are unchecked; this is important as you might brick your device if these options are ticked! Also, uncheck Auto Reboot.
6. Click on Start.
7. Once Odin says PASS!, take out the battery and unplug the device.
8. Put the battery back in and start your device.
You should now be able to access CWM by holding Volume Up + Home + Power buttons with the device off!

I am trying to download clockwork recovery, downloaded odin and 0817 recovery file, got to download on phone, opened odin, now odin doesnt recognize 0817 and I dont know how to back the phone out of download files…it says do not turn target off
do you have the proper drivers installed? Try to install Samsung Kies, that will usually put the drivers in place for you. Then come back to the procedure and try again.
I’m on a mac and it isn’t allowing me to open the odin 1.85
Odin only works on Windows based PCs, it doesn’t work on Macs.
how do i open oden on an windows 8?
i put the drivers, odin, put my phone on the computer, put in the software and click start, it has been a minute and it says its done so i take it off and try to root my phone, when i put in cwm phase, it does not have clockwork recovery, what do i do, i put in kies, does it being a windows 8 effect anything?
Ive tried this several times and it keeps failing at movinand.bin, please help!
