How to Install Jelly Bean on Nexus S 4G
It hasn’t been a long time since Jelly Bean announced at the Google I/O and there have been many ports of the same for various devices. Smartphones like Samsung Galaxy Nexus has gotten the taste of Jelly Bean and now is the turn of Nexus S 4G to get it. If you own a Nexus S 4G smartphone and want to install the early port of Jelly Bean on it, then following guide is perfect for you. Follow each step in the guide below and get Jelly Bean running on your smartphone.
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must have rooted your Nexus S 4G smartphone before doing this procedure. Please head to our how to root Nexus S 4G procedure first, finish it, then return to this procedure and continue.
2. You must have ClockworkMod Recovery installed on your smartphone. Please see this guide to learn how to do so.
2. You must have unlocked bootloader of your Nexus S 4G. You can do so from here.
3. Some functions are not working in this port of Jelly Bean. You can find the list of such functions here.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. Download the Jelly Bean ROM from here. (Download link is in the first post)
III. Installing Jelly Bean on Nexus S 4G:
1. Download and place the Jelly Bean ROM file on the Desktop of your PC.
2. Connect your Nexus S 4G to your PC using the USB cable.
3. Copy the Jelly Bean ROM file to the root folder of your SD card. It is the topmost folder.
4. Disconnect your phone from the PC after you have copied the file.
5. Switch OFF your smartphone using the Power button.
6. Reboot your smartphone into the ClockworkMod Recovery. To do that, while your phone is turned OFF, press and hold Volume DOWN+Power buttons together.
7. Select the Recovery option from the Fastboot mode.
8. From inside the recover, choose wipe data/factory reset option and hit Yes when you are prompted.
9. Select install zip from sdcard and then choose zip from sdcard.
10. Browse to the Jelly Bean ROM file you copied earlier and select it using the Power button. The flashing will begin and take a while to complete.
11. As soon as the flashing completes, select reboot system now from the Recovery menu.
Your smartphone will reboot and when it boots up, you will be using Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on it. Cheers ! You now have the Android’s latest version running on your phone. If you’ve any questions regarding the ROM, you can ask it in the forum thread.
