Let us help you figure out some of the basics and even some tips and tricks with our Windows Phone 7 Basic How To’s. Today’s lesson is going to be the very first lesson you should follow; how to navigate Windows Phone 7. In this procedure, we’ll basically give you a quick overview of how moving around the Windows Phone 7 OS works and how you can get comfortable (and dare I say, master) it’s basic uses.
Highlights
- Three physical buttons; back, home, and search.
- Lockscreen swipes up to unlock the device
- Consists of a home screen that scrolls up and down and a scrollable app list you can get to by swiping to the left.
- Panoramic layout consistent through out the OS. Swiping left and right to get to new menus in different apps.
- Status bar auto-hides itself. To bring it back you have to double tap at the top of the screen.
- Live tiles on the homescreen are widget-like icons that can display certain information from different apps directly without having to enter the app itself.
- Apps and contacts can also be pinned to the homescreen like the live tiles for quicker access to certain people or apps.
- To get new apps, you click on the Marketplace and download them from the different sections there (you can also use the Marketplace to download songs as well from Zune).
