How to Re-Enable Phone Number Hyperlink Functionality on your HTC Phone
Due to the war between Apple and HTC regarding patents, the hyperlink functionality has now been removed from HTC Phones. The functionality allowed you to start a call directly from the messages when you tap the phone number mentioned in it. If you want that functionality back on your HTC Phone, then follow the steps given in the following guide.
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must have rooted your HTC Smartphone. Please browse our HTC How Tos section to find the rooting procedure for your particular HTC smartphone.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. Download the Astro File Manager App from here. (Google Play Link)
III. Re-Enabling Hyperlink Functionality on your HTC Phone:
1. Download and install the Astro File Manager app on your phone.
2. Launch the app from your phone’s menu.
3. From the app interface, navigate to /system/ folder. You can do this by tapping the folder icon.
4. In the /system/ folder, you will find a file called build.prop. Tap it for about two seconds and then choose Open As from the context menu that appears on your screen.
5. Now, choose Text option from the four options presented to you.
6. Choose File Editor option from the screen that follows.
7. Find the following line in the file:
ro.da1.enable=true
8. Replace it with this new line:
ro.da1.enable=false
9. Now, add the following line anywhere into the build.prop file:
ro.da1.method=false
10. Save the file and exit the File Manager app on your phone.
11. Reboot your smartphone.
You have successfully re-enabled the Hyperlink Functionality on your HTC Smartphone. We did it using a simple build.prop file tweak.
