How to Root and Flash ClockworkMod Recovery on the Bell Galaxy S II HD LTE (SGH-I757M)
The Galaxy S II HD LTE is a slightly tweaked version of the famed Galaxy S II and hence, requires a different approach when rooting the device. This post will show you how to do that exactly; read on to know more.
I. Before You Begin
1. You will not lose any data by following this procedure but back up your important data as a precaution.
2. This only works with the Bell Canada version of the Galaxy S II HD LTE, so do not try this on any other variants of the same device!!
II. Necessary Downloads
2. root_sgs2hdbell.zip.
3. Â Odin3_v1.85.zip.
III. Flashing ClockworkMod Recovery
1. Extract Odin3_v1.85.zip to a folder on your desktop. Make sure that both Odin3_v1.85.exe and Odin3.ini are extracted here.
2. From the extracted folder, double-click on Odin3_v1.85.exe to open up the Odin application.
3. Click on the Bootloader button and locate cwm_5.5.0.4_recovery.tar you downloaded above.
4. Make sure that the Re-Partiion tickbox (under Options) is unchecked! You will most likely brick your device if you tick this option!
5. Power down your device and boot into Download Mode. To do this:
i. Press and hold the Volume Down + Power buttons ii. The device should vibrate and a warning screen should appear. Press the Volume Up button at this point to enter Download Mode. Â6. Connect your device to your Windows PC. Odin should now recognize your device and the ID:COM should light up yellow.
7. Click on Start.
You should now have ClockworkMod Recovery installed on your Galaxy S II HD LTE.
IV. Rooting the Galaxy S II HD LTE
1. With your device turned on and connected to your PC, copy the root_sgs2hdbell.zip you download above to your SD card (internal/external) using the USB Storage Mode.
2. Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery. To do this:
i. Disconnect and power down your device. ii. Press and hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power simultaneously until you see the Samsung logo.iii. Let go of the buttons as soon as you see the Samsung logo.
3. Use the Volume buttons to navigate to install zip from SD card and press the Power button to select it.
4. Locate the root_sgs2hdbell.zip you copied above and press the Power button to flash it.
5. Once the flash is complete, select reboot system now.
Your Galaxy S II HD LTE should be rooted after the reboot!!

I have tried this multiple times with 2 different crm files and neither will load onto my phone. I do have the Bell samsung galaxy s2 hd lte and I am trying to update to the 4.0 software since I can’t do it through kies or through the phone. What else can I try to get this update to work!

After selecting “install zip from sdcard”, you should have an option saying “toggle signature verification”. Make sure it is in OFF mode. It’ll solve your issue!

hi, when I select the zip install package it doesn’t give me the option to toggle the signature verification. It fails every time without giving the option
hi guys everything went fine with loading the cwm and then loading the root file but when i check it with root cheker it says ur device is not rootted properly. it says su binary not found or not operating properly
Does the Superuser app exist on your device? If yes, then open it and choose the “update binaries” option. It should update the binaries on your device and your issue will be resolved.

I tried this advice, however when I select to update the binary, it gets to the point of saying “gaining root access” and then the result is fail. It downloaded and checked and everything fine, I just don’t have root access so I can’t update the binary. I am using the SGH-i757M so this is the proper guide for it. my phone wont go into cwm recovery mode after doing proper flashing it just goes to android system recovery please help me
Usually, when you install a custom recovery on your device, it replaces the stock recovery. If you can boot into the Stock Recovery, that means, the custom recovery doesn’t exist on your device.
You must be doing something incorrectly, maybe you missed a step or something else….
We’ve users who successfully flashed the recovery and are able to boot their devices into the CWM Recovery mode.

How many times do we have to try???? I have done it 3 or 4 times, and each time Odin says it was successful
Make sure you reset the device as soon as it’s done by using the three button combination or it goes back to it’s original for some reason. Someone mentioned to me that if you allow it to reboot before going into the cwm recovery (just the first time) it reverts the stock recovery.

Nope. The process is relatively the same (I’m not 100% on that) but I know that you need a different file. The best thing is to just google how to root your specific model number.
Hi, i have a problem with the ClockWorkMod, i installed it but once i try to reboot the mobile in that mode i cant, it reboots in the Android Recovery. I dont know what to do. Regards
I have tried this numerous times and I keep getting signature verification error. When I go into recovery mode, it says Android System Recovery and not CWM recovery. How do I get the CWM recovery to take, to be installed with Odin. Odin always says sucess when it is done, but it does not boot into CWM recovery…

I was having issues with this…
I was running Odin3 v3,07, cause the first version would not see my device,
so I went to get an earlyer version. Still didn’t worked…
Went to device manager on my pc (win7) and was having an unknown device,
so I figured that I needed a Drivers That win7 din’t have…
Took a while, And I’ve figured out that i need to install KiesAir drivers(from samsung’s web site) in order to have Adin3 to see my device…
the install is now in process as I speek 🙂

ery time i try to go to download mode it gives me optins like reboot, apply update from external, wipe data and wipe cache apply udpate from cache
I just went through this process, my CWM said I was rooted. Restarted, ran Root Checker, and no joy.
