How to Root the Craig CMP738A/CMP738B Tablets
Nowadays, for less than a $100 you could get serviceable tab and the Craig line of tablets are some of them. The tablets we talk about in this post are the CMP738A and CMP738B, which are almost similar with a 7-inch touchscreen display, 4GB of onboard storage, WiFi, USB Host support, and a microSD slot to expand your storage up to 32GB. The only difference we can see is the CPU clock speed, which runs at 800MHz for the CMP738B while the CMP738A clocks in slightly lower at 700MHz. Still, a great deal for the price it begs but if you really want some more from this device, rooting is a good idea. And this post will show you just that – how to root your Craig Tablet.
I. Before You Begin
1. This procedure will wipe all the data on your device, so make sure you back up everything you feel is important before you begin.
2. Make sure that you have at least 75% of your device’s battery charged before you begin.
3. Using this procedure will also get you the Android Market that was previously unavailable on the device, although you may not see all the apps listed in the Market due to compatibility issues.
II. Necessary Downloads

III. Rooting the Craig CMP738A/CMP738B Tablet
1. Rename the CMP738brootedROM.img file you downloaded above to update.img.
2. Connect your device to your PC and copy the update.img file to your SD card (not into any subfolders).
3. Disconnect and restart your device.
4. Answer any questions the device asks with Yes or Accept based on the type of question.
5. Wait for your device to reboot.
And that’s that! Your Craig CMP738A/CMP738B Tablet should be rooted once it reboots.
