How to Root the Gionee Elife E6

Rooting the Gionee Elife E6 is now possible, all thanks to the Framaroot app. With root-access on your Elife E6, your device will be able to perform at its fullest, meaning you’ll get the best performance out of your device.

Rooting is the process of gaining administrative rights on your Android device.  Once we root our Android device, we can then make changes to it to customize it well beyond what it normally can do.

Once you have root access on your Gionee Elife E6, you’ll be able to:

• Remove apps that were preinstalled by your carrier/manufacturer from your device.
• Free up storage space (because of the above benefit).
• Increase battery life (apps that might have been running constantly can be removed).
• Increase performance (after removing apps that are always running, the device will be less bogged down and run smoother).
• Update to a new version of Android (by flashing a custom recovery/ROM, see the end of this procedure for more info on that).
• Tons of other customizations when you use your new found administrative rights to flash a custom ROM (again, see the end of this procedure for more info on that).

I. Before You Begin

1. This will void the warranty of your device. We won’t be held responsible if you end-up bricking or damaging your device. Do it at your own risk.

2. You can unroot your device to reinstate the warranty, only if an unrooting procedure’s available, though.

3. This flashes a custom recovery as well.

II. Downloading Required Files

1. Download Framaroot APK and save it to your desktop.

2. Download CWM Recovery and save it to your desktop.

3. Download Mobile Uncle Tools app from the Google Play on your device.

III. Rooting the Gionee Elife E6

1. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.

2. Copy the Framaroot APK from your desktop over to the root of your SD card. It’s the topmost folder on your SD card.

3. Once it’s copied, disconnect your device from your PC.

4. Head to Menu > Settings > Security on your device and turn ON the Unknown sources option.

5. Open File Manager and tap on the Framaroot APK you just copied to your device and it’ll install.

6. Once installed, open the app from your App Drawer.

7. Select Install SuperSU from the first dropdown menu.

8. Tap on Boromir.

9. It’ll start rooting your device.

10. When you’re rooted, reboot your device.

11. And you’re all done!

Wonderful! Your Gionee Elife E6 now has root-access. If you’re interested in flashing a custom recovery on your device, here’s how you can do that.

IV. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Gionee Elife E6

1. Connect your device to your PC via USB cable.

2. Copy the CWM Recovery Image from your desktop over to the root of your SD card.

3. When it’s copied, disconnect your device from your PC.

4. Open your App Drawer and tap on the Mobile Uncle Tools app icon and it’ll launch.

5. Tap on Recovery Update.

6. Navigate to the root of your SD card and tap on the CWM Recovery Image you copied earlier to your device.

7. It should begin flashing the recovery on your device.

8. When it’s flashed, reboot your device.

9. You’re all set!

Congratulations! Your Gionee Elife E6 now has root as well as a working custom recovery. With the combination of both of these, you’ll be able to do a lot of tasks on your device which you can’t do with an unrooted device.
