I completed all the steps but when I opened the superuser app and tried to update the su binery files, it said: granting root access… But it Fails. Any thoughts?
Didn’t work for me either… Try using SuperSU instead, it worked for me!

Will this work with 2.3.4? Thanks
Yep, I did it on 2.3.4 but like @njb comment above, the Superuser app that was preinstalled after runnning the zip in step 7 didn’t/couldn’t obtain root. However, when I installed SuperSU from the Play store, it was able to obtain root and it removed the Superuser app because it must have sensed the competition.
I followed the steps above and have unlocked bootloader, installed CWM recovery, SuperUser.
I go to the custom install ROM instructions and donnot find the compatible ROM for HTC incredible 2.
