How to Root the LG Optimus C
LG Optimus C is the Cricket variant of the LG’s Optimus series smartphones and is equipped with Android as its operating system. The device packs nice set of features but since the firmware it uses is a bit old, it may disappoint the users who have been playing around with ICS and Jelly Bean. If you happen to own this device and don’t like being stuck at an old firmware, then root your device and you should have access to thousands of root-only apps as well as custom ROMs, to bring back life to your device. This guide shows how exactly you can root your LG Optimus C smartphone and unlock the true potential of the device.
I. Before You Begin:
1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting the device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.
2. Your device should have at least 50% of battery life left.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. GingerBreak APK (It’s attached in the second post)
III. Rooting the LG Optimus C:
1. Place the GingerBreak APK file on the Desktop of your PC.
2. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.
3. Copy the APK file over to the root of your SD card.
4. Once copied, unplug your device from your PC.
5. Turn ON the USB debugging option on your device by going to Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging.
6. Open the File Manager app on your device and install the APK you just copied.
7. Once installed, open it from your App Drawer.
8. Tap on Root device option in the app and it should begin rooting your device.
9. Once it’s done, reboot your device.
10. And you’re all done!
Brilliant! Your LG Optimus C was successfully rooted with the GingerBreak exploit and you can now enjoy your favorite root-only apps on your device!
IV. Flash a Custom Recovery Image (Optional):
1. If you would like to flash a custom recovery image in order to flash custom ROMs, head to the How To Flash a Custom Recovery Image on the LG Optimus C to learn how to do that.
