How To: Root the Motorola Droid X
I. Before You Begin
1. This will root your device so you can use root required applications (like WiFi Tether etc). This will NOT allow you to flash custom ROMs, yet…
II. Root the Phone
1. Download the Root .zip file
2. On your phone, go to Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging > and make sure it is checked ON.
3. Plug your phone in to the computer via USB and select Charge Only when it pops up on the phone’s screen.
4. Unzip the DroidXRoot.zip file and extract it’s content somewhere on the computer.
5. Right click the DroidRootX.exe file and select Run As Administrator (if using XP just double click it)
6. Click the Root Me button and wait for it to finish. Enjoy!
if i root, will i get the Froyo OTA? or am i going to be left out just like the ones who got the leaked out Froyo build?
This does not work on Droid X. Always fails.
What does my bluetooth have to do with the root process?

Sh0ke,
It should.
Do you have an how toss on how to revert back to stock 2.1 for an unrooted 2.2leak? Thanks
Mic,
Doing all our Droid X procedures this week when we get a Droid X. The revert to stock will be one of them. Check back by weeks end.
Will this root allow me to hack Storm8 games like imobsters?
I’m currently running Android Version 2.2.1 on my Droid X, could this be hindering my ability to root my with this method? I always get a failed root with ever attempt. Also, out of curiosity, what does the bluetooth have to do with the rooting process?
Thnx
